Peace of Mind (PoM)

What it does

Peace of Mind is a mobile app where people prepare their major end-of-life matters ahead of time. They design their own funeral, store or write their will, track legal documents and keep private files in a secure vault. When the time comes, a verified executor takes over the account and carries out the plan.

Alongside the planning tools sits a family timeline. Users pin photos, videos and milestones to the dates they happened, start branches for their children and join timelines with relatives. When a user passes, the timeline is handed down, so family history builds up over generations instead of getting lost.

The problem

Funeral wishes are often spoken once and never written down. Wills, legal forms, bills and bank logins sit in drawers, inboxes and lawyers' offices, and families are left guessing. Handing over sensitive accounts after a death also needs strong checks against fraud, and most family photos stay on one phone and fade within a generation.

• Primary and backup executors chosen from the user's contacts
